We did our first summary on desert
horsemen police patrols. This summary talks about how the police can keep the
city safe. Hedley gave us some advice about how to summarize the passage and how
to get the main ideas, look at the opening and closing paragraphs, and we have
to omit the names and the quotations. This summary was a practice.
The second summary we did was about road
crashes, and mostly it was about children's safety. Hedley taught us how to use
the words in the sentences and how we can get the main purpose from the
paragraph and summarize it. He fixed our mistakes, after we submitted them, and
he returned them to us for review . This summary grade is 10 percent from our overall
grade.
Our third summary was about pearl diving.
This summary tells you how the pearl diving is getting less and less famous
with the years. This passage talks mostly about the past, present, and what
they will do in the future to keep the pearl diving going on. Hedley taught us that
in this summary we need some dates and numbers. But we don't have to use them a
lot.
